Blog exercise #2: Architectural "Chineseness" detailing

In my blog1 entry I introduced Cloisonne - one of the traditional arts and crafts in Beijing of China, I focused on rich Chinese culture atmosphere from them. The key theme that I feel relates to the Chinese Cloisonne is detailing.

In filigree welding the artist pinches and curves copper filigree into delicate flower patterns, pasting them onto the copper mold. Cloisonne painting completely demonstrates the wisdom and excellent artistic standard of the Chinese hand-made maker, full of Chinese culture atmosphere.

It is manifested in the form of Chinese elements, based on Chinese culture or oriental culture, adapting to global economic trends and has its own unique charm and character.

Cloisonne use Chinese auspicious patterns, myths and legends, surname culture, poetry, fiction and drama as their themes. They carry a rich cultural heritage, conduct Chinese history of five thousand years, fully demonstrating practical, cultural and artistic qualities.

Contemporary Chinese architecture referencing traditional elements; using local materials (brick) and vernacular forms (the courtyard), local technologies (wood, brick, stone carving, painting, etc.) naturally combined with western architectural practice, this kind of building, they display strong vitality, also have continuity and universality.

Like the former Chinese Academy of Art, designed by Beijing-based architect Li Chengde in 2003, is a pleasant walk-in campus made of gray, ivy-clad bricks and blackened steel elements. In the interior there is a spacious garden featuring rocks, ponds, and Chinese-style bridges.
